Well, if you ever read my first horrific birthing experience with Coen, you'll know that I was very apprehensive about everything this second time. I'm happy to say that everything went smoothly. Like butter on a hot roll. It was kind of surreal because I wasn't in labor before going into the hospital. We just hung out at the house, cleaned up everything, rechecked our bags and around 4 pm we headed to the hospital. Our surgery got bumped for an emergency C-section and all the nurses kept apologizing, but honestly waiting 2 hours was perfectly fine with me, compared to 28 hours that I waited with Coen.
I got prepped and just kind of hung out with my family until they were ready for us and then I walked myself into the operating room, sat myself down and they gave me the epidural on the table. Dr. Silver was my anesthesiologist and he was amazing. (Never use Dr. Patel...he was the one I had before...)At one point my blood pressure dropped and I almost fainted but he was on it quick and I stayed awake. I was kind of nervous because I could still move my left foot and with my first delivery, my left side didn't numb and I felt myself get cut open so I was quick to tell him. He poked me all over my stomach though and I couldn't feel anything. I don't know why, but the medicine made me laugh like a crazy face. Mike was like, "Why are you laughin?" and I was like "I don't know!" LOL. Then they put up the blue screen so I couldn't see myself getting cut open and Dr. Lammi, my OBGYN went to work.
I was awake the entire time. I did feel like a pops and pressure but no pain. Whew...Thank God! Dr. Woods (a lady Dr.) assisted him. He wasn't too happy with my previous C-section scar so he just cut the whole thing off and gave me a brand new one. I'm definitely not complaining about that. I had a keloid scar from my first c-section and the scar was uneven. (Thank Goodness my Dr. retired cuz she did a hack job) When they broke my water it literally gushed out like a geyser. It was crazy. It sounded like it was raining. I could hear the drops hitting the blue curtain. Mike said he could see it shooting out. LOL. Pretty crazy. Jonah was pretty high up in my abdomen and instead of reaching his giant hand up there to grab him out, he had Dr. Woods put all of her weight on the top of my fundus (she was practically standing on me) and Jonah just popped out.
I got to hear his first little cry and I literally was overcome with emotion and cried. I'm sad I missed out on that with Coen. I'm not much of a crier, but you really do just feel so relieved and happy to hear your baby cry that first time. He was beautiful with a head full of long black hair. He looked just like Coen. 6lbs 7 oz, 19 inches. Definitely not as small as they thought. He was 6 oz and and 1/2 inch bigger than Coen. Cool thing was, I guess he weight right. Woop! Mike stayed with him while they closed me up and I was back in my hospital room within the hour.
I am so happy to have my lil guy here and that everything went so well. He is such a relaxed little guy. Hardly cries, just eats and sleeps and likes to snuggle. He has Daddy's fingers and toes and possibly his light brown eyes. They're still grayish right now, but they have like a green tint to them. Definitely didn't expect that. Coen loves him so much already. He checks on him whenever he cries and he has found a way to climb into the crib to check on him. He touches him all soft and gives him kisses. I'm so glad that he hasn't had any weird jealousy issues...yet...So far so good. Love my guys and happy to be home. Now to get this baby weight off!
