Plated

Am I a chef? Hell no! Do I like food? Hells yes! I cook pretty much every day and I've been getting bored with our regular menu.

One day while wasting time on facebook I came across a little sponsored ad for Plated. If you want all the beautifully descriptive paragraphs filled with delicious adjectives describing what it is...click on the link.

I on the other hand will sum it up:  You browse through and choose recipes you like, you pick 4 (minimum 4 plates per order) and you order. Plated ships all of the ingredients and instructions to your doorstep in pretty little ice cooled box and you cook it and eat it.

Pretty simple.

Essentially it saves you from grocery shopping. You are paying for convenience. This month it's for a good cause though. If you know about (RED) you know that the money from partnerships goes to the global AIDs fund and HIV/AIDs programs in Africa. From June 1st-10th Plated has teamed up with (RED) and your purchase will  be for benefit.

Click the link for more details.

If you know me at all, you know I will go to 5 different stores to save $5 so this is definitely a one time deal for me. I got the trial package. 4 meals for $20. Otherwise you pay $10 for membership ontop of about $15 per plate (remember 4 plate minimum) which is roughly half of my grocery budget for the month. The meal was good but not $50 good. $50 good is when I don't have to cook it...and it comes with a glass of wine.

Was it fun? Yes! Food delivered to my door could never be a bad thing. Any kind of package makes me happy really. Will I pay the 5 (Martin Lawrence reference) to continue? Probably not. I could probably look up the recipes myself and just get the stuff at the grocery store. They are not super complicated meals. And...no leftovers! What??? This is a home built on leftovers!  But...if you feel like getting in on the fun, they are still offering the 4 meals for $20. It certainly made for a fun blog post and it was fun to break up the meal monotony.

Meal 1: Swordfish with Spicy Mango Salsa and Israeli Couscous

What's not pictured is all the chopping.  Everything came whole and very fresh.

Jonah-7 Months

Dear Jonah,
I am so in love with you! I love the way your little cheeks smell. It reminds me of your wide grin and slobbery wet kisses. I love the way your bottom lip hangs and kind of dents in the middle. I love the way you hop to the beat of a song and how you giggle to yourself when you hear "Happy" or "Boogie Fever." I love the way you suck your thumb with all of your other fingers up. I love the way you scratch the pillow right before you fall asleep. I love the way you reach up and grab my bottom lip while you're eating. I love the way you wake up and blow raspberries or "gaga" until I wake up. I love the way you wake up from a nap in our bed and all I can see are you bright green little eyes peaking up from under the pile of covers.  I love the way you jump jump jump when I hold you. I love the way you will roll across the room but refuse to crawl. I love the squishy face you make when I give you sweet peas. I love your curly little eyelashes and they way you look like a muppet when you try to talk. I love all of your little chubby dimples, but especially that one in your cheek. I love you so very much my little chunky town! Happy 7th Months!

Mother's Day

For Mother's day my siblings and I got together and recreated some old photos and made my mom a little book.

They result is friggin hilarious! It was a lot harder than it looks, especially when you look like you have mental problems as a kid. My sister was the only who had to just smile! LOL

If anyone is ever looking for any awesome gift for you mama....you can't go wrong with this!

Enjoy!

Jonah-6 months

Jojo!
You are a half year already!  Where has the time gone? I know I say that every month but time really is slipping through my fingers. Those sweet little coos are starting to sound more and more like words. Lots of "mahmahmahs" and you move your mouth like a puppet. Your interest in food is definitely strong. The other day you grabbed a cinnamon roll from my hand and put it in your mouth. You still don't know what to chew so you kind of just licked/slobbered on it for awhile. Your eyes follow anything we're eating or drinking. You are getting better with your hands and when you're not staring at them with wonderous curiousity  you are sucking on them or using the to grab our faces or fingers. You like to attack our faces and suck on our noses.  You also love to grab your toes an suck your thumb. You can' sit still  when music is on and you jump on beat. You love the song "Happy" by Pharrell Williams right now. You make a silly sound where you suck all the air and go "heeee!" LOL It kills me! You're starting to rock back and forth when you're on your tummy. I think you'll start trying to crawl soon. You can only go backwards right now! Haha!
Love you Chubba!

Social Media Break-FAIL

Oh man, so here I was thinking I was cool and I could give up something for Lent like I used to back in my church-going days. It was an enormous fail. I decided to give up Social Media (Facebook and Instagram) since it's the one thing I feel i'm addicted to and that I feel I waste the most time on.

Instagram wasn't so hard, but I couldn't completely log off of my Facebook because of my business page and therefore temptation was more than eminent. Of course we'd get a bunch of photography business requests while I was having my little "break" and so I had to check it and respond.

I'd see those little notifications staring back at me with menacing red eyes and telling me "Don't look away girl! You know you want to check!"

I lasted all of 2 weeks before I caved. My sister took the challenge with me and actually made it for 30 days! I'm disappointed in myself and shocked that my sister lasted longer than me.

*Sigh* Oh well. I guess I will try this challenge again this summer and see how I do. It really is such a time waster. I could be doing so many other things rather than just scrolling away. I've quite a few little projects in mind to keep my productively busy this summer, so we'll see how I do.

Challenge yourself and see how you do! Let me know if you beat my depressing results! LOL

Jonah-5 months

Seems like yesterday I was pulling out the 3-6 month clothes and today i' m putting them all away for the 6-9 month clothes. He is such a little chunko! I just love his little rolly thighs! He rolls over like it's nothing now and doesn't waste time  on his back but absolutely hates to be on his belly. LOL. I bet by this time next month he'll be starting to crawl! Yikes! Coen likes to lay with him during tummy time and they just lay there and crack up at each other. We've started some solids. He really loves rice and oatmeal. He practically snatches the spoon from my hand and feeds himself. We tried squash and sweet  peas but he didn't seem too fond of either. He makes the cutest ''sour" face!

He still wakes up happy as can be with sweet coos and raspberries and he loves to jump in the jumper! He is definitely spoiled. He likes mama to hold him and I happily oblige! Little stinker!
